Sharing knowledge among the SQL Server professional community
The Hartford SQL Server User's Group is an organization created to provide the following to SQL Server Professionals within the Hartford, Connecticut community:
-> Provide in-depth technical instruction and discussions regarding Microsoft SQL Server
-> Network with other SQL Server Professionals
-> Discuss problems and best practices around your experience with SQL Server
The Hartford SQL Server User's Group meets at least once per quarter (4 times per year) and may meet more often depending on commnuity interest. Upcoming events and annoucements are communicated to its memebers via e-mail. For those persons interested in watching the sessions live, there will be an effort made to broadcast the meetings via Microsoft Livemeeting for free. The topics presented during the group meetings cover subject matter related to the Microsoft SQL Server platform. Professionals who are database administrators, database developers, and those who manage these folks will benefit most from being apart of our group.We realize that free time in the evening is scarce for most people so HSSUG meets during the work day instead of at night. We promise you that you will learn something from every HSSUG meeting!

Group Leaders:
Thomas LaRock, DBA Manager, ING Investment Management
Thomas LaRock is a seasoned IT professional with over a decade of technical and management experience. Currently serving as a database administration manager with ING Investment Management, Thomas has progressed through several roles at ING, including programmer, analyst, and DBA. Prior to ING, he worked at several software and consulting companies, working at customer sites in the United States and abroad. Thomas holds a MS degree in Mathematics from Washington State University and is a member of the Usability Professional’s Association. Thomas is also a member of Quest’s Association of SQL Server Experts, currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Professional Association for SQL Server (PASS), and is a SQL Server MVP.
Robert Walters, SQL Server Technology Specialist, Microsoft
Rob Walters works with Microsoft as a data platform technology specialist covering the Northeast district. Rob’s extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server started over 10 years ago when he worked as a consultant for Microsoft Consulting Services in Denver, Colorado. Shortly after the dot–com bubble burst, Rob returned to Microsoft’s headquarters and worked as a program manager in the SQL Server product unit. There he owned various features within SQL Server including SQL Server Agent, various management features, and the security for the database engine. Rob is lead author on Beginning SQL Server 2008 Administration and Accelerated SQL Server 2008 by Apress Publishing and has coauthored other texts including Pro SQL Server 2005, and Programming SQL Server 2005. Mr. Walters holds a bachelors of science in electrical engineering from Michigan State University and a masters degree in business administration from Seattle University.
